Wantagh Station Update: Phase 2 of Renovations Begin
West End of Platform & West Staircases Close: Passengers to Board/Exit from First Six Cars
To Board/Exit Trains at Wantagh:
On Monday, February 26, at 10:15 AM, Phase Two of the Wantagh Station Platform Replacement Project begins. Work moves to the western half of the platform, and requires the closure of both staircases adjacent to Wantagh Avenue, in addition to the center staircase and escalator. To access the platform, customers will need to use staircases at the east end of the station, adjacent to Beech Street. These changes are effective after the AM rush hour.
Once the western portion of the platform is replaced, the fully renovated 12-car platform will be coated and sealed to provide a uniform appearance. This project is expected to be completed in late summer/early fall 2018.
To accommodate construction and storage of materials needed for the work, 15 parking spaces located under the viaduct will be unavailable until completion of the project.
We apologize for any inconvenience this platform replacement work may cause and appreciate your patience as we work to complete this infrastructure improvement in the shortest timeframe possible.
