LIRR Concourse Project - Coming Soon

Installation of Protective Shield Above 33rd St. Corridor and Upcoming Retail Closures;
LIRR Track Info To Be Available on Amtrak Level

MTA is continuing to improve and transform Penn Station. Work on the LIRR Concourse Project has been accelerated to take advantage of reduced passenger flow and to minimize customer disruption. Installation of a protective shield and improved lighting has begun along the 33rd Street Corridor. Customers may notice steel beams and wood decking being installed overhead, to be followed by construction walls.

In the coming weeks, retail on the LIRR Concourse Level will begin to close temporarily. LIRR and NYCT customers can access concessions and amenities upstairs on the Amtrak concourse. LIRR track and service information will also be provided on the Amtrak level on new LIRR track information screens. Customers can also consult the free LIRR TrainTime App for train and track information.

The LIRR Concourse Project will include higher ceilings, wider corridors, improved lighting and air flow, accessibility enhancements, new retail options, and more – for a better Penn Station experience.

For More Information: Contact the LIRR’s Customer Service Center by calling 511 or 718-217-LIRR (718-217-5477). Automated schedule information is available 24/7. Agents are available to assist customers daily from 6 AM until 10 PM. To speak with an LIRR employee, say the word “Representative” when the prompts begin.
