Tuesday, September 3: New Timetables take Effect for All LIRR Branches;

LIRR to Restore 14 Rush Hour Trains to/from Penn Station Following Completion of Latest Round of Amtrak Repairs at Penn Station

After Labor Day, new schedules will be in effect for all LIRR branches. Changes include restoration of rush hour trains that had been canceled or diverted due to the most recent phase of Amtrak’s track repairs in Penn Station. A westbound South Fork Commuter Connection train will be extended one stop further – to Westhampton - to meet customer demand.  On weekends, four midday trains on the Oyster Bay Branch will be discontinued, bringing service to a consistent two-hourly service pattern. Trackwork, improvement projects and station renovations along the Babylon, Long Beach, Montauk and Ronkonkoma branches will result in schedule and track changes on both weekdays and weekends.  Listed by branch, highlights of the changes include:

Overnight Service Changes: Some weekday overnight Huntington trains will depart between 6 minutes earlier and 18 minutes later.

Off-Peak Service Changes: Some weekday off-peak Ronkonkoma trains will depart between 30 minutes earlier and 32 minutes later.
Overnight Service Changes: Some weekday overnight Ronkonkoma trains will depart between 6 minutes earlier and 18 minutes later.
