New Timetables In Effect Starting Tuesday, September 4

After Labor Day, completion of East Side Access work in the northeast quadrant of Harold Interlocking, and a temporary hiatus in Amtrak’s Penn Station repairs, means restoration of rush hour trains that had been canceled or diverted. In addition, progress on the Double Track Project will allow restoration of some trains on the Ronkonkoma Branch starting Tuesday, September 4. Restored service includes:

Babylon Branch

Hempstead Branch

Long Beach Branch

Montauk Branch

Port Washington Branch

Ronkonkoma Branch

Temporary Relief Trains Canceled
Three temporary trains that were added in January to offset the other cancellations and diversions will be removed from the schedule as of Tuesday, September 4.  Those trains are:

Montauk Branch – Midday Busing Program Starts September 4
The new timetable also include midday changes on the Montauk Branch associated with state-of-good-repair trackwork and grade crossing modernization.  Buses will replace off-peak weekday morning and afternoon trains east of Patchogue from Tuesday, September 4 through Friday, November 9.
