LIRR to Cross-Honor MetroCards at Key NYC Stations for Customers Affected by Overnight Subway System Closure
Beginning on Wednesday, May 6, and continuing until further notice, NYC Transit subway service will be suspended from 1 AM – 5 AM, daily, to allow for increased cleaning and disinfecting of subway cars and stations.
During this time, the LIRR will accommodate MetroCard holders by providing free train service for travel to/from the following stations, which are either adjacent, or in close proximity to,
NYC Transit subway stations.
- Penn Station
- Atlantic Terminal
- East New York
- Nostrand Avenue
- Flushing-Main Street
- Forest Hills
- Kew Gardens
Subway customers are advised to check the LIRR’s online schedules before traveling as overnight LIRR train service is less frequent than subway service.
Brooklyn customers: under the Essential Service Plan, the last westbound train from Jamaica departs at 1:22 AM, and the last eastbound train from Atlantic Terminal departs at 1:49 AM.
For More Information: Contact the LIRR’s Customer Service Center by calling 511 or 718-217-LIRR (718-217-5477). Automated schedule information is available 24/7. Agents are available to assist customers daily from 6 AM until 10 PM. To speak with an LIRR employee, say the word “Representative” when the prompts begin.
