March 28: Westbound Trains To Bypass Kew Gardens, Forest Hills and Woodside Stations
For a 24-hour period (midnight-midnight) on Saturday, March 28, westbound trains (except Port Washington Branch trains) will bypass Kew Gardens, Forest Hills and Woodside while LIRR forces perform trackwork along the westbound tracks at these locations..
As an alternative, NYC Transit will cross-honor LIRR tickets for subway service at nearby stations. To have your ticket cross-honored, please use the main subway entrance, closest to the staffed station booth. See below for details.
Customers traveling to Kew Gardens/Forest Hills/Woodside from points east of Jamaica: At Jamaica Station, transfer to a Manhattan-bound train at the Sutphin Blvd/Archer Av/JFK Airport Station. For Kew Gardens, exit at Kew Gardens/Union Tpke; for Forest Hills, exit at Forest Hills/71st Av; for Woodside, exit at Jackson Hts/Roosevelt Av, transfer to a Manhattan-bound train and exit at 61st St/Woodside.
Westbound Customers at Kew Gardens/Forest Hills/Woodside: Take the / train at Kew Gardens/Union Tpke, the // train at Forest Hills/71st Av or the train at 61st St/Woodside. At Woodside, customers can also take westbound Port Washington Branch trains. Note: For customers traveling from these stations, unless you have a weekly or monthly ticket, it will be more economical to purchase a subway ride rather than buying a One-Way LIRR ticket for the purpose of cross-honoring.
Eastbound service to Woodside, Forest Hills and Kew Gardens is unaffected.
