August 3-6: Westbound Main Line Trains Bypass Kew Gardens, Forest Hills and Woodside Station
For the week beginning Monday, August 3, westbound Main Line trains (not including Port Washington Branch trains) will bypass will bypass Kew Gardens, Forest Hills and Woodside stations during the evening-overnight hours as we continue installation and testing of our new Positive Train Control (PTC) system, a safety-enhancing technology. This service change will be in effect during the following times:
- 9:00 PM, Monday, August 3 through 4:00 AM, Tuesday, August 4
- 9:00 PM, Tuesday, August 4 through 4:00 AM, Wednesday, August 5
- 9:00 PM, Wednesday, August 5 through 4:00 AM, Thursday, August 6
- 9:00 PM, Thursday, August 6 through 4:00 AM, Friday August 7
Customers traveling to Kew Gardens/Forest Hills/Woodside from points east of Jamaica: At Jamaica Station, transfer to a Manhattan-bound train at the Sutphin Blvd/Archer Av/JFK Airport Station. For Kew Gardens, exit the subway at Kew Gardens/Union Tpke; for Forest Hills, exit the subway at Forest Hills/71st Av; for Woodside, exit the E train at Jackson Hts/Roosevelt Av, transfer to a Manhattan-bound zd train and exit at 61st St/Woodside.
Westbound Customers at Kew Gardens/Forest Hills/Woodside: Take the / train at Kew Gardens/Union Tpke, the // train at Forest Hills/71st Av or the train at 61st St/Woodside. (Woodside customers can also take westbound Port Washington Branch trains, which will continue to stop at Woodside.) Note: For customers traveling from these stations, unless you have a weekly or monthly ticket, it will be more economical to purchase a subway ride rather than buying a One-Way LIRR ticket for the purpose of cross-honoring.
During the subway shutdown from 1 AM to 5 AM, use the free Q60 bus that runs along Queens Boulveard.
Eastbound service to/from Woodside, Forest Hills and Kew Gardens is not affected.
