Canarsie Tunnel Reconstruction

Current Efforts

In the Subway

The Planning Process

Overview

The MTA is working with the NYC Department of Transportation and other agencies to develop plans for ferry and bus service that will provide additional transit options during the shutdown. We are currently studying transit demand and street conditions as they relate to automobile, bus, bicycle and pedestrian demand and congestion. These conditions will change with no L subway service between Brooklyn and Manhattan and under various transit service and street reconfiguration scenarios. This analysis will be completed in Spring 2017, and the results and proposed alternatives will be reviewed with elected officials, community boards, local stakeholders, and the community for feedback, with a goal of having the basic plans in place by the end of 2017.
