New Jersey Department of Transportation’s (NJDOT) Route 495 Bridge Rehabilitation Project

Beginning Friday, August 17, one lane of Route 495 in each direction will be closed, limiting roadway capacity and causing severe congestion for Staten Island express bus routes that use the Lincoln Tunnel.

While the Exclusive Bus Lane will remain open during the weekday morning peak period, we will be monitoring the impact of NJDOT’s work very closely and will adjust service to minimize delays.

Affected routes include the current X17, X21, X22, X22A, X23, X24, X30, and X31 routs, as well as the new routes SIM8, SIM8x, SIM22, SIM23, SIM24, SIM25, SIM26, and SIM30 that begin service on August 19.

Stay up to date with the MYmta app, or call 511.

Construction related traffic impacts during the peak period will continue for approximately two and a half years . You can learn more about the NJDOT's 495 Bridge Rehabilitation Project here.
