| 2015 Major Service Changes
MTA New York City Transit is completing three capital improvement projects on the Line: installation of a new Communications-Based Train Control (CBTC) signal system; elevated track replacement and infrastructure work; and reconstruction and fortification of the Steinway Tubes. The majority of this work is scheduled over weekends when ridership is lower and gives our workers continuous, train-free access to the Line.
During major service changes, service will be partially suspended and replaced by free shuttle buses, and other subway lines will provide alternate travel options. When other weekend or weeknight changes are in effect, service will continue to operate, but this work will result in service changes that may affect your trip. To stay informed of these changes, click on The Weekender. Customers should also consult service directories and special notices posted on trains and in stations.
We are aware of the inconvenience these and other disruptions cause, and we appreciate your patience. These projects will bring a modern, state-of-the-art signal system and reliable, resilient infrastructure upgrades to the Line.
While not expected, dates are subject to change.
Other planned weekend work may affect service. Click on The Weekender for more information and to plan your trip.
