The contract provides for the construction of flood resiliency improvements for selected traction power DC Substations and train yard buildings located in flood prone areas along the Hudson Line. The flood resiliency improvements for DC substations include: perimeter protection, waterproofing and hardening, water level monitoring systems/alarms and water detection systems/alarms. The flood resiliency improvements also include the waterproofing and hardening of selected train yard buildings and train yard electrical equipment deemed critical for the safe operation of the railroad. The flood resiliency improvements will accomplish the following in the event of a flood surge: (1) provide protective measures to keep damaging and corrosive salt water out of vulnerable equipment (traction power substations and components; power, communications and signal equipment, infrastructure interlockings, and vulnerable yard locations to the extent.

This contract is part of the cyclical program to rehabilitate the Grand Central Terminal Train Shed. It will provide for priority repairs to steel, concrete and expansion joints to correct localized deficiencies. The contractor will work from street level (Park Avenue) to make repairs below grade and will also work from track level on overhead repairs during night and off-peak hours. At 56th St. Emergency Exit, walkway and access stair will be replaced with the new steel framing and grating platform. At 48th Street and Park Avenue the contractor will perform structural repairs and modifications to architectural finishes above the East Spine Vestibule, immediately east of Park Avenue.

The work under this contract shall include, but not be limited to, the design and furnishing of a new wayside signal system and grade crossing warning system to replace the existing vital relay based signal system, a non-vital system, and will provide the necessary upgraded block design. The work is to be performed on a contiguous section of Metro-North Railroad's Hudson Line from CP-35 located north of Croton Harmon Passenger Station to CP-75 located north of Poughkeepsie Passenger Station. The work area is an overall distance of approximately 40 miles.

This contract is for the survey of 36 locations for a 10x20 communication bungalow and furnishes, deliver and install new roofing system as needed. Metro North Railroad has 36 locations spread out on all three lines (Harlem, Hudson, & New Haven) that have communication bungalows that require an assessment for the replacement of their roofs. The work includes survey and assessment of the current communication houses roof condition (includes water proofing membrane). Based on the determination of the findings the existing roofs must be replaced, as needed, with new roofing systems. The work must be performed in a matter that is non-disruptive to railroad operations and free of damage to equipment within the space.

This contract will also include seismic retrofits and substructure repairs.

The purpose of this project is to replace HVAC units and associated equipment that are beyond their useful life at College Point Depot. The existing HVAC equipment is inadequate and no longer complies with the New York State Energy code. The new HVAC will be designed and constructed with the latest energy efficiency and maintenance features, and will be in compliance with the current New York State Energy code. The heating system that serves the chassis wash areas will be modified, and a BMS system to monitor HVAC system will be installed. This project is FTA funded. Procurement will be done on behalf of MTA Bus by MTA New York City Transit.
