Our New West Haven Station Is Open For Business!

New West Haven StationThe gleaming, contemporary West Haven Station, situated between New Haven and Milford stations on the New Haven Line, opened its doors to New Haven Line customers on Sunday, August 18th.

West Haven was designed, constructed and funded by the State of Connecticut, and we partnered with the Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) to help build a first-class facility for you, our customers!

The station includes two 1,100 - foot platforms that are 12 cars in length. It is packed with a full roster of modern amenities, including benches, lighting, overpass, artwork, covered waiting areas, bicycle racks, concession stand areas and an ADA (Americans with Disabilities) compliant station building with restrooms.

Additionally, the facility is wired up with the latest technology for customers, such as an electronic kiosk, closed-circuit security cameras, PA system, etc. And, there are Ticket Machines on each platform (two on the inbound and one on outbound) for convenient and fast ticket purchases.

West Haven boasts two buildings: The main station building on the north side of the tracks houses the waiting area and an area for vendors, and has space for offices, restrooms and various vending machines. The smaller structure has a staircase leading to the pedestrian overpass, which leads to the larger building.

West Haven fares are the same as New Haven Station fares because they are in the same zone. And trains that stop at New Haven Station also stop in West Haven. (CTDOT's Shore Line East trains to and from Stamford make a stop at West Haven Station, too.)

Customers will also appreciate the brand-new 650-plus space parking area serving inbound and outbound sides of the station.

In fact, parking permits, which are effective September 1st through February 28, 2014, are available for purchase from CTrides at 877-CT-RIDES (877-287-4337), by email at info@ctrides.com, or through online live chat at www.ctrides.com.  Daily parking is, of course, also available.  Parking at West Haven Station will be free until parking permits take effect.
