Roaring Brook Road Closes Fri., July 31-Sun., Aug. 2 For Drainage Improvement Work
Roaring Brook Road in Chappaqua is expected to be closed this weekend from 7 PM on Fri., July 31 until 7 PM on Sun., Aug. 2 to conduct drainage improvement work where the road crosses Metro-North’s Harlem Line tracks. The area is prone to flooding because of the nearby juncture of Roaring Brook and Chappaqua Brook, which runs alongside the tracks.
Metro-North’s weekend train service will not be affected.
This work is being done in collaboration with the New York State Department of Transportation and the Town of New Castle.
Metro-North will replace the concrete approach, on the east side of the Roaring Brook Road grade crossing, with a new concrete deck and associated structural work to improve the drainage. Maintenance of Way crews will also continue to clear numerous culverts and deepen ditches on either side of the tracks.
During this work, NYSDOT will close the entrance and exit ramps from the Saw Mill River Parkway and Roaring Brook Road between the Parkway and Southview Road.
Motorists are advised to follow the posted detour and expect delays. Drivers are asked to use caution when traveling through the work area and pay particular attention to all traffic control devices, including work zone signs and flaggers.
