Metro-North’s July 4th Holiday Service

Special July 4th Holiday ServiceDeclare your independence from traffic and tolls this July 4th holiday by taking Metro-North to celebrate our nation's birthday.

There are plenty of early getaway trains on Tuesday, July 3.

And on Wednesday, July 4, we will operate a Sunday schedule to get you to and from the annual Macy's Fireworks.

Getaway Train Service

On Tuesday, July 3, there are 17 extra "getaway" departures from Grand Central Terminal between 1 p.m. and 4:11 p.m

On the Hudson Line

Five extra "getaway" trains will depart from Grand Central at:


The following trains usually departing Grand Central will not operate:

Hudson Line Connecting Services

The Hudson Rail Link will begin a peak level of buses at Spuyten Duyvil starting with the 2:20 PM train from Grand Central and at Riverdale starting with the 3:21 PM train from Grand Central.

The Haverstraw -Ossining Ferry will have an early ferry trip that will meet the 3:11 PM train from Grand Central, which arrives in Ossining at 3:56 PM. Since the 5:57 PM train will not operate, a 6:00 PM train from Grand Central, which arrives in Ossining at 6:53 PM, will be met by the ferry. To accommodate this trip, the ferry will not meet the regular 6:22 PM train from Grand Central.

The Newburgh -Beacon Ferry will have three early trips meeting the 2:43 PM, 3:18 PM and 3:48 PM trains from Grand Central.


On the Harlem Line

On Wednesday, July 4, Metro-North will operate a Sunday schedule with one additional train on the New Haven Line to get you home from the annual Macy's Fireworks. The train departs Grand Central Terminal at 11:14 p.m., and Harlem-125th Street at 11:23 p.m., making stops at Westport, Fairfield, Fairfield-Metro, Bridgeport, Stratford, Milford, West Haven, and New Haven. Metro-North also provides service to Rye on the New Haven Line, with shuttle buses to Rye Playland where Westchester County puts on its own spectacular fireworks extravaganza over the Long Island Sound. Please check our TrainTime™ app or visit our schedules page for train schedules.

The Hudson Line connecting services--the Hudson Rail Link, the Haverstraw-Ossining ferry and the Newburgh-Beacon ferry--will not operate on Wednesday, July 4.
