Danbury Railway Museum

The experience

The Danbury Railway Museum is located in the historic 1903 train station and railroad yard in downtown Danbury, Connecticut. Founded in 1994, the Museum preserves, restores, and operates vintage New England railroad equipment. Get onboard the “Rail Yard Local” and be transported back in time to the early to mid-20th century, the golden age of railroading.

This train ride will bring you past the Museum’s ever-growing collection of historic rolling stock, including many rare diesel engines and one-of-a-kind pieces like the Boston and Maine Railroad’s steam locomotive. The Museum also features the only operating turntable in Connecticut.

The Rail Yard Local runs every hour, beginning at 10:30 a.m. on Saturdays and 12:30 p.m. on Sundays, with the last train leaving the Museum at 2:45 p.m. (3:45 p.m. June-August). The ride takes approximately 25 minutes and operates on a first-come, first-served basis. Metro-North customers can purchase a discount ticket for the Rail Yard Local at the museum for $2.

For more information about the Museum, visit here or call 203-778-8337.
