Take the Long Island Rail Road to College

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, please check directly with Molloy College for specific information, guidelines and safety restrictions.

LIRR College Ticket Pilot Program

MTA Long Island Rail Road and Molloy College have partnered to provide the first-ever discounted college ticket initiative for full-time students traveling to and from campus on the Long Island Rail Road. The LIRR-Molloy College Ticket Pilot Program will focus on Molloy's signature Manhattan-based theatre program, CAP 21, and enrolled students who live on the Rockville Centre campus.

The LIRR-Molloy College Ticket Pilot Program provides a 25% discount subsidized by Molloy College. Students must purchase a monthly ticket or ten-trip ticket package via the MTA eTix mobile ticketing app. Molloy students will submit proof of purchase to Molloy College to receive the credit to their student account.

The objectives of this Pilot Program are to:

  • Offer students savings to ease the financial burden of commuting by providing a 25% discount subsidized by Molloy, when they purchase Monthly or Ten-Trip LIRR tickets
  • Increase/develop awareness of LIRR service as an efficient, more environmentally friendly and safer alternative to driving a car

Ticket Processing/Discount:

In order to participate, students must use the LIRR’s MTA eTix App.

  • Students may purchase an MTA eTix Monthly or Ten-Trip Ticket from LIRR at full price
  • Students must submit proof of purchase to the Molloy College Student Affairs Office (print MTA eTix e-mail receipt)
  • Molloy College will reimburse the student’s account with the 25% credit (dollar amount) for ticket purchased

For additional details on this pilot program, students can contact the Molloy College Student Affairs Office or visit www.molloy.edu/LIRRtickets
