We are committed to keeping the public engaged, informed and educated about the project.
That’s why our Community Liaisons are available in-person for you to talk with at our Community Information Center (CIC). The CIC, located at 69 E. 125th Street, is dedicated to everything Second Avenue Subway. Visit us and you’ll learn about Phase 2, its history and construction process by experiencing regular programming and activities, workshops, ask-the-expert sessions, multimedia exhibits, talks and virtual tours including:
- Monthly evening Transit Talks – on the construction process of the project and the history of East Harlem – and biannual exhibits about the project
- Regular programing for individuals and groups of all ages including STEM-focused presentations for elementary and secondary school classes
- Multimedia exhibitions on what it takes to build a project of this magnitude including Second Avenue Subway Phase 2: East Harlem, the history of the Second Avenue Subway and much more
As required by the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), which requires environmental review for projects seeking federal funding, the Federal Transit Administration (FTA) and MTA completed an Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) for the entire project. We have also completed a Supplemental Environmental Assessment (EA) evaluating the impacts of Phase 2 and are now inviting public comment.
